The advantages of epoxy quartz mosaic flooring

Epoxy quartz mosaic flooring is a three-component composition based on epoxy resin, which is used as a protective and / or decorative coating in areas subject to heavy traffic, abrasive and chemical effects, weather conditions and more. Epoxy quartz mosaic includes different types of granulometry of the fine aggregate (sand), which helps to more densely distribute the sands in the resin, increasing the properties of the final coating. Due to the high content of quartz sand, quartz epoxy mosaic is much stronger than standard self-leveling epoxy floor and has a number of advantages .

Some of the advantages of the complete epoxy quartz system are:

- Strong mechanical strength, wear resistance and chemical resistance;
- Anti-slip effect;
- Good grip;
- UV stability;
- Good appearance and a possibility to have a multicolor flooring;

Extremely versatile flooring system, suitable for different areas:

- Places with high traffic;
- Industrial premises;
- Swimming pools;
- Showers, toilets and other wet rooms;
- Medical establishments and veterinary clinics;
- Outdoor and indoor playgrounds (yards, outdoor and indoor parking lots, etc.);

Application of a system of quartz epoxy mosaic.

The system consists of a primer, quartz epoxy mosaic and a polyurethane topcoat.

First of all, the base must be clean, free of dust, oil, grease, old coatings and other contaminants. The base is prepared mechanically, by blasting or milling to remove the cement laitance and achieve a solid and textured surface. When removing the surface layer, defects such as pores, voids, cracks are completely detected. All dust, crumbly solids are removed with a brush and vacuuming. The filling of holes, cracks and leveling of the base is done with polymer concrete, epoxy putty or putty. After filling cracks, joints and other defects are sanded and vacuumed again. When the base moisture is up to 4%, it is primed with "Epoxy primer for concrete floors", and in the presence of higher moisture - "Epoxy contact primer". The primer penetrates deeply and provides good adhesion between the substrate and the coating. If micropores remain after priming, apply a second coat of primer. Apply the primer with a brush, short-haired roller. Before applying the base coat, mix the resin and sand, homogenizing very well with a mechanical stirrer or a drill with a stirrer. The hardener is then added. Stirring lasts about 5-6 minutes. The application is done with a spatula, notched trowel or trowel. If the coating is for outdoor use and will be exposed to weather conditions, we recommend applying "Polyurethane varnish" as a topcoat. This transmits even greater strength and resistance to UV rays, chemicals, scratches and shocks.
