Ethyl Silicate 40
Ethyl Silicate 40 is a mixture of tetraethyl orthosilicate and ethyl polysilicates, which can be used as a source of finely divided silica. It is used as a binder for precision investment casting molds. It is also used in formulating inorganic zinc rich protective coatings.
Features
Easily hydrolyzed by atmospheric moisture; • dries quickly; • creates a solid silicone film; • soluble in organic solvents; • has good astringent and fastening properties.
Ethylsilicate-40 is a bonding compound for the production of ceramic moulds for precise casting.Apart from the production of ceramic moulds for precise casting, Ethylsilicate-40 is applied in textile industry, construction works, glass and ceramics manufacturing, paint and varnishing industry.
More applications:
In the metallurgical industry - as a binder in the manufacture of ceramic molds for precision casting (lost wax method), rods, as a component of nonstick paints;
in the textile industry - for non-shrink finishing carpets and woolen fabrics, giving them resistance to decay;
in the glass industry - for the enlightenment of optical glasses, coating cylinders of bulbs with the light-scattering layer;
in construction - to create hydrophobic properties of building materials anеуd painted surfaces, for impregnation of concrete to reduce the porosity and increase the acid and frost resistance, for production of silicate and acid-resistant cement;
in the paint industry – as the additive for thermal and water-resistant quick-drying coatings with lasting shine; to reduce the time of oil oxidation in the preparation of drying oil (added when heating oil in the amount of 3 - 5% by weight) as the component of non-stick paints;
in the gas-oil industry - as a main component of grouting fluids;
