UV-Resistant Clear Epoxy Resin Chimepox ULTRA UV
This clear epoxy system is developed for high-end art and design applications where crystal clarity and resistance to yellowing are essential. The formulation is specifically modified for improved color stability, making it suitable for light, transparent, and pigmented projects with long-term aesthetic value.
Most epoxy resins yellow. Not immediately — but after a few months under light, the change is visible: what started as a beautifully clear finish becomes dull and amber-tinted. Chimepox Ultra UV is engineered to stop that.
Chimepox Ultra UV is a 2-component transparent epoxy resin with UV inhibitors built directly into the resin matrix — not just applied at the surface. The cycloaliphatic hardener is specifically selected for maximum resistance to colour change and transparency loss under UV exposure, outperforming standard amine-cured systems in long-term clarity.
The result: a coating that stays clear — or holds its colour — far longer than any standard epoxy system.
APPLICATIONS:
Decorative floors and countertops Pour transparent or pigmented layers over concrete, wood or stone — up to 8–10 mm per pour. Low viscosity ensures easy, near self-releasing air bubbles without intensive degassing.
Stone carpets and natural stone impregnation Ideal for binding decorative aggregates and achieving a rich "wet look" effect when impregnating limestone, marble, pebbles or similar materials.
Art projects and sun-exposed surfaces Paintings, bar tops, display tables, decorative panels — wherever transparency must survive exposure to light.
Laminating and impregnation The low viscosity allows deep, even penetration into porous and textured substrates.

SYSTEM AND ADDITIONAL PROTECTION:
Chimepox Ultra UV can be pigmented with dry effect pigments (metallic, pearl, fluorescent) — do not use water-based pigment pastes. For maximum UV protection under intense direct sunlight, a finishing coat of ChimaPUR L or ChimaPUR LM topcoat is recommended — both contain additional UV inhibitors.

FAQ :
Q: Why do epoxy resins yellow and how can I prevent it? A: Yellowing is caused by the degradation of amine hardeners under UV exposure. Chimepox Ultra UV uses a cycloaliphatic hardener and UV inhibitors built into the resin itself, which practically eliminates yellowing under normal use conditions.
Q: How thick can I pour Chimepox Ultra UV? A: Up to 8–10 mm per layer. Thicker pours generate excessive exothermic heat, which can cause yellowing from overheating rather than UV exposure.
Q: Can Chimepox Ultra UV be pigmented? A: Yes — with any dry effect pigments (metallic, pearl, etc.). Do not use water-based pigment pastes, as water interferes with the curing reaction.
Q: Is it suitable for outdoor or sun-exposed surfaces? A: Yes — it was developed specifically for these conditions. For intense sunlight, a finishing coat of ChimaPUR L or ChimaPUR LM topcoat is recommended for additional UV stability.
Q: Does Chimepox Ultra UV self-degas? A: Nearly. The low viscosity allows air bubbles to rise and release almost on their own. A heat gun or torch can be used briefly over the surface to speed up the process if needed.
Q: How fast does it cure? A: Full cure at +23°C within 24 hours. Full mechanical properties are reached after 7 days.
