Silicone rubber for sealingE:
sealing electrical and electronic parts for the purpose of insulation from moisture , dust, weather and other
potting transformers and others for the purpose of electrical insulation
Silicone paste Silast D-2 is a tw o-component composition. It is hardened (cured) at room temperature/room temperature vulcanizing (RTV).
According to their strength and elasticity and amount and type of filler and its purpose Silast D-2 is produced in the following varieties and types: E (EZH, EE and EVN), P (P3, P12, P15 and P30), ETI, O and SH (SH50, SH60 and SH70).
· fast and non-shrink cure at room temperature/room temperature vulcanization (RTV)
· medium Shore A hardness (approx. 40)
· high tear strength
· resistance to casting resin
· long service life of the molds
RTV two-component silicone rubbers Silast D-2 are sealants with a wide range of applications - for creating rubber molds for casts, sculptural ornaments, sealing electrical and electronic parts, for making molds for reproducing technical and artistic products for jointing and plastering.
Component 1 (silicone paste Silast D-2) is mixed with component 2 (cured K168 or K168 A) in a ratio 100:5 parts by weight at room temperature.
1 and 2 components may only be used together if they have the same batch number.
The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
The components of the addition-curing grade Silast D-2 contain only constituents that over many years have proved to be neither toxic nor aggressive, but still they are not recommended for use in the food and medical industries. Special handling precautions are therefore not required, i.e., only the general industrial hygiene regulations apply.
