What does floor coating mean and what do you need to know? While “epoxy” is the most commonly used term for floor coating, often the entire systems combine epoxy basecoats with polyaspartic, polyurethane or polyurea topcoats. The use and maintenance of the floor dictate which chemicals are appropriate in each specific case. Our staff will assist you with that determination.
What does floor coating mean?
A floor coating is one or more layers of a polymer coating. The polymer can be either of the following: epoxy, urethane, polyurea, acrylic, MMA or some other formulations. Most floor coatings for residential use will be epoxy, urethane, polyurea or some combination of these. Floor coatings may be poured and rolled, sprayed or trowel-down. These methods are based upon the physical properties and applied thicknesses of the floor coating materials.
