Future trends in the wood coatings marketOpportunities are seeen with new biobased diacids, polyols and diamines. Some of thse show potential for the synthesis of poluyrethanes for the demanding wood coating market.
In general terms, the technologies benefitng from reduction of solvents are high solid or waterbases systems. When it comes to wood coatings, waterbased coating systems have the broadest application opportunities when trying to replace the solvent-bases systems. The use of water-based poluyrethane coatings for parquet or water-based UV-curing systems for industrial furniture are examples of the shift in technologies that is taking place.
